Materials

Inside every NOOK

Every layer chosen to last decades and hold its temperature year-round. This is what sits beneath the finish.

Exterior of a black NOOK Base showing its solid building envelope

Steel, sandwich panels and rock wool

It starts with a reinforced steel frame. Around it sit 50 mm high-density sandwich panels, rock-wool partitions with improved fire resistance, and a double-layer false ceiling that cuts thermal bridges. The result? An A energy rating and a steady temperature 365 days a year, whatever the weather does outside.

High-efficiency PVC, safety-tempered glass

High-efficiency PVC exterior carpentry, built for extreme climates. A two-pane sliding window and a sliding door, both with double safety-tempered glazing on both sides. Floor-to-ceiling light comes in; the cold stays out.

Close-up of NOOK thermo-treated wood cladding in a black finish

Thermo-treated wood or maintenance-free Millboard

As standard, Zenwood thermo-treated cladding in Black or Oak, re-lacquered every five years or so. Prefer to never think about maintenance? Millboard composite asks for none and lasts 25+ years. You choose the finish when you configure your NOOK.

A NOOK Base placed by crane onto a helical-pile foundation

Helical piles, no concrete

Your NOOK rests on screw-in helical piles. Half a day to install, no civil works, no concrete. They lift out or relocate with no mark left on the land — Mobility & Demountability Certificate included. The garden stays yours.

Quality & extras: frequently asked

How much maintenance does the wood need?

Thermo-treated wood is re-lacquered roughly every five years. If you'd rather skip maintenance entirely, Millboard cladding needs none and lasts 25+ years.

Can I add a porch or deck later?

Structural extras (porch, sloped roof, deck) are chosen when you configure your NOOK, before production. Tell us your project in a consultation and we'll plan it with you.

Will the foundation damage my garden?

No. Helical piles screw in within half a day — no concrete, no civil works — and can be removed with no permanent mark. They include a Mobility & Demountability Certificate.

What warranty does the structure carry?

A 3-year structural warranty. Every NOOK passes four factory inspections — structure, envelope, services and finishes — before it leaves.

Is it warm in winter and cool in summer?

Yes. The envelope combines 50 mm sandwich panels, rock wool, a high-density roof and a double-insulated false ceiling, with an A energy rating for four-season use.

What finishes can I choose?

Exterior in Thermo-treated wood (Black or Oak) or Millboard; laminate flooring in Dark, Caova or Sand; optional linen walls and a panoramic window. Everything previews and prices in the configurator.

Which NOOK models can I choose?

The NOOK Base (9.75 m²), the NOOK Doble (19.50 m²) and the NOOK Sauna. Modules dock together at the factory, so you can grow to 30–40 m² on a single foundation.

Is it better value than a traditional extension?

The price is fixed before production — without the +30–40% overrun a traditional build typically runs — and you're ready in 12–16 weeks instead of months. We compare a prefab garden room with a traditional extension here.
