One module, four uses. If the treatment room needs to become a studio in two years, the interior can be refitted without changing the building.

Two heights: 2.50 m outside / 2.10 m inside, or 2.90 m / 2.50 m (NOOK 10 and 20). A basic set of sauna, treatment room and changing room adds up to about 40 m² of footprint, plus the deck, the cold plunge and the paths between buildings. The site needs lorry and crane access.

How it arrives
A crane morning, not a building season
Extending a hotel the conventional way means permits, design and a building site, with guests next door. Every winter of works is a winter without a sauna, with hoarding and dust beside the people paying to rest.
A construction director at a hotel group put it to us like this: the permit for the main building, a year; extending beside it with new build, two to three.
The NOOK Sauna is built in 8–12 weeks. Foundations are prepared before delivery; the finished unit is then craned into place and connected in hours. The landscaping is finished around it.
There will be noise and a cordoned-off area for a few hours; we schedule it away from check-in. Planning depends on your local authority and the use: we prepare the technical documentation and go through it with you before you commit to anything.

NOOK's are built in 8–12 weeks, arrive finished and are connected in hours. The NOOK Sauna seats 4–5 and starts at £32,000 or $45,000 ex works.

With NOOK, the heat is the NOOK Sauna; the cold is a plunge from the brand you choose (we build the deck around it) or the vestibule shower; rest is a deck or tea room; treatment is a NOOK 10; changing is a NOOK 20 with a bathroom.
How much space does a hotel spa take?
About 40 m² of footprint for a basic set: the NOOK Sauna and a NOOK 10 are 4 × 2.50 m each, and a NOOK 20 changing room is 4 × 5 m or 8 × 2.50 m. Add the deck, the cold plunge and the paths between buildings. The site needs lorry and crane access; a few photos are enough for us to tell you what's possible.
Sauna or steam room: which comes first?
If you're starting with one, start with the sauna: it's the one we build today. A sauna is dry heat at 80 °C or more, with water on the stones; a steam room is wet heat, at a lower temperature, with the air full of vapour. We're developing a steam room on the same platform, and we won't sell it until it has spent a winter with instruments on its walls.
How do you add a spa to a hotel without construction?
With buildings made off site. The NOOK Sauna, NOOK 10 and NOOK 20 are built in 8–12 weeks; foundations go in before delivery, then each finished unit is craned into place and connected in hours. There is still site work (services brought to the point, crane access, any permissions), but no building season next to your guests.
Do we need planning permission, and what power does it need?
Planning depends on where you are and how you'll use it; a NOOK stands on screw piles, not permanent foundations, and we go through it with you before you commit to anything. Each building needs a power supply to the point we mark. A NOOK 10 connects on single phase at 32 A with a 40 A main switch; the NOOK Sauna's load is confirmed in your proposal.
How much daily work does it take?
Daily work covers switching on, towels, cleaning and airing between sessions; staffing depends on the use, your insurer and local rules. The heater reaches 80 °C in 30–40 minutes, so it goes on before the first slot. Before opening, decide who switches it on, who resets it between slots and how access is controlled.
Should we charge per session or include it in the rate?
You can include access in the stay or charge by the slot; compare both models against your costs and demand. Included, or sold as day access, it reaches many guests as a low-ticket extra. The private hour gives the whole sauna to a couple or family, at a higher price, with a reset between slots. The calculator on this page models both.
Is a hotel spa profitable?
We don't promise a return: it depends on your prices, your bookings and your costs, and only you have those. The calculator on this page models day access and a private hour on your own numbers. For context, Gleneagles lists £220 for a 90-minute outdoor-sauna visit for 1–2 guests; that is a published price, not a forecast of what yours will take.
Can it be moved later?
Yes. The unit can be lifted and moved, subject to access, new foundations and any permissions. We'll assess the work needed to remove the old foundations. The inside can change too: today's treatment room can be refitted as a studio without changing the building.
